A Basic Principle to Increase Your Win Percentage Playing 2v2 Risk Online

One of the coolest things about 2v2 Risk online is that it's strategies are very similar to real life warfare. This article will discuss a basic principle observed by Sun Tzu thousands of years ago that will increase your own win percentage when playing 2v2 Risk online!

The first thing many players will try to do is take the continents of Australia or South America, depending on which is most convenient according to their placement. Many amateur players will make the mistake of fighting for these continents in a defensive position. Never forget, defensive dice are always weaker than offensive dice. Skilled 2v2ers always try to take the attack advantage. Sometimes you will be lucky and win as a defender, but it's never smart to depend on luck. Your average win percentage will suffer if you make a habit of depending on defensive dice to win the game.

One reason 2v2 Risk online is a great game is because it's very similar to real life warfare. Most principles taught in military schools can be applied to increase your win percentage. "Those skilled in war bring the enemy to the field of battle and are not brought there by him.” -Sun Tzu
If you're in the 2 4 position and your enemy has offensive dice in Australia, don't follow them to Australia to fight for the continent with inferior defensive dice. You're breaking Sun Tzu's rule if you do that. If you follow the enemy with defensive dice, you're allowing them to bring you to their own field of battle. Doing what the enemy wants is always a mistake. It's always smarter to do what your enemy does not want.
Instead of following the enemy to their own field of battle, look for other options to take your own initiative. Do you have an attack advantage in South America perhaps? Ignore Australia then and take South America instead. Does your opponent have the attack advantage in both Australia and South America? Take the fight outside of the continents then. Place your men in a spot where they cannot be attacked and then when your turn comes, use your army to break the enemy's continent with offensive dice which is a far better option rather than placing beside an attacker only to be destroyed.

There are many things you can do to bring the enemy to your own field of battle. Does it look like you will not be able to break South America or Australia with offensive dice? Forget what the enemy is doing then, let them waste their time taking Australia while you take Africa! Your options always vary depending on your situation and only critical thinking plus experience will determine the correct move to make. As a 2v2 Risk online player you should follow the golden rule of never doing what your opponent wants, and then applying your experience to accomplish that goal.
